Coaching
Meet Lindsey Leedom, 2009 Coach for the Bay City Rowing Club.
Lindsey says:
"My rowing career started my first year of college at Eastern Michigan University. My novice year is what one would expect from a novice year; lots of crabs, blisters, and unset boats. That summer I took a learn to scull class from the Ann Arbor Rowing Club and then rowed with the Bay City kids that summer. The following 3 years I continued to row with Eastern in the 2nd varsity boat and in fours and in the summers I rowed with the Ann Arbor Rowing Club. My junior year I received the Most Improved Rower award and was awarded a full ride scholarship my senior year.
Last summer, I coached at the Ann Arbor Rowing Club. I primarily coached Learn to Row to adults. I started with 10 students and had 9 the last day of class. Out of those 9 students, 7 of them still row and compete with the club. We worked together on basic rowing skills on the erg, to the barge and then into the boat. I also helped coach regular practices when I was not rowing. During practices we worked on drills and had workouts to increase speed and improve technique.
I have many ideas for this summer and can't wait to start coaching! I am working on some ideas for the Learn to Row program and everyday practices. I hope that you all are as excited as I am and are open to some new ideas!
