And Open House

The Bay City Rowing Club offers a number of opportunities for people to learn to row and to participate in this exciting sport.

The annual "Learn to Row Day" and Open House is held each Spring in conjunction with the U.S.Rowing Association's national Learn To Row day.

The schedule calls for introductory discussion of equipment, safety, and boat handling. This will be followed by on-water time in team boats of four to eight people. Scheduling is flexible depending on the number of people who turn out.

Rescheduling in the event of rain and/or thunder, or high winds, will be announced if necessary.

The LTR program is a free program. Just come ready to row and have a good time.

For more information send e-mail to Scott Hardy.

The Club also offers a more comprehensive "Introduction to Rowing" program each spring and summer. That program is designed to get a new rower safely on the water in a short time. The course includes eight class sessions and generally runs for two weeks. At least five classes are on the water.

The "Introduction to Rowing" program costs $75.00. Full Club membership is not required. The student is treated as a provisional member of the club for the duration of the class. As such the student is required to sign a standard waiver form.

Members of the club who wish to use club equipment for rowing must demonstrate that they are trained and capable of handling a boat safely. The "Introduction to Rowing" program is designed to get a new rower to this level of experience.
