Pictures from rowing trip
Grand Rapids - April 14, 2000

Our trip to Grand Rapids, Michigan presented some real excitement. About an hour out of Grand Rapids, traveling West on I-96, we saw a large smoke plume erupt. What we saw was a tour bus on fire.

We were up to the scene in about a minute, so it had just started. A group of young people were walking toward us on the opposite side looking back at their burning bus.

The scene was actually quite frightening. The flames grew very rapidly. Had we not been so close, traffic would have stopped before we got there. As it was, we got pictures of the worst part. Here they are:

(that's our boat trailer on the right.
We only took two "fours" this time.)
