Bay City, as a community, has invested a great deal of time, money and community spirit to develop our riverfront. A walking and recreation area runs for several miles along the river. A wide and high footbridge crosses from the mainland to the Middle Grounds Island. This picture was taken from the bridge as the crew heads for the main channel of the Saginaw River.

The Middle Grounds is home to the Bay City Rowing Club and the Boys and Girls Club as well. That club has a large facility with gym, meeting and game rooms, hall and computer lab for area kids. The property includes ball fields, picnic grounds, and an improved shoreline all around the end of the island. South of the club are more ball fields then a residential area on the remainder of the island.
