The floating dock splits into a "V" at the water.
The boathouse is in a huge public park.
The south dock is used for public swimming
when there are no races.
This day there was a "teen camp" group of about 100
kids swimming on that side.
When things are in full swing at a regatta they'll be launching boats from both sides of both docks. |
| In this picture the girls on the near side are launching and the ones on the far side are returning. |
|
In this shot the girls on the far side are ready
to roll their boat into the water now that the
previous boat is pulling out.
During a regatta there would be a line of boats going up the hill waiting their turn to launch. As soon at the far boat is in the water the next crew would walk to the center of the pier and wait for the near boat to pull out so they can roll in. |
