When there are boats launching and girls
carrying oars to the water it can get
just a bit crowded.
Things are more relaxed when there are only five boats working. Emily has pleanty of room to bring her oars down. |
| Getting everyone into the boat is a beautiful ballet of coordination. The coxswain calls the orders and everyone moves at the same time. |
|
Get in, get the foot stretchers adjusted,
ready to push off.
Helpers on the dock will gently push the oars to move the boat out. The "cox" will then choregraphs the crew . . . "Lean away Walk it to bow. Ready Walk Bow pair sit ready to row Ready row . . ." |
| Once on away from the dock the boat move out quickly. |
